Kenosha Riots
The Kenosha riots of 2020 were a series of protests and civil unrest that occurred in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake by police officers on August 23, 2020. The riots began on August 25 and lasted for several days, resulting in the destruction of several businesses and buildings. In addition to the destruction caused by the riots, there were also reports of looting, arson, and violence against police officers and other individuals. The protests ended after Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency and called for the deployment of the National Guard. The riots have been widely condemned by both local and national leaders, with President Donald Trump calling them ”domestic terror.” The events have raised questions about police use of force and systemic racism in the United States.
